Decorating Trends in Modern Bedding from Contemporary to Classic

There are many different kinds of expression that people can portray with home decorating, and modern bedding can express a persons creative freedom in many ways. Fabrics that are commonly used for bedding include cotton and polyester blends, and the more exotic fabrics are taffeta and silk. From nature motifs to geometric designs to chic modern and contemporary, the design style that is used is always totally up to the individual.

These days, it seems almost anything goes as far as the decorating trends go. The decor of a home can be simple and light in color or bold, bright, and full of detail. More and more we are seeing a trend in simple looks for the home. A good example of this is the platform bed, which is a simple bed that is low to the floor, and the look is often completed with simple modern bedding. The idea for the platform bed originates from Asia, where it is custom to have the bed as close to the ground as possible. This same look has become popular in the United States and in Europe as well.

Another modern bedding trend that is making a comeback from yesteryear has to do with the top covering. For the last several years, the fluffy and puffy comforter had replaced the simple bedspread. Now we are seeing the era of the comforter pass by for now, being replaced with fresh designs in quilts, duvets, and bedspreads once again. Although the comforter is still the most popular covering, the quilts and duvets are becoming more and more popular through the recent seasons. The modern, contemporary bedding of today is accented often with bold colors and lines while the more classic patterns of flowers seem to be wilting away.

Popular materials for modern bedding are anything from hand embroidered silk to Jacquard fabrics to plush, thick linens as well. The sheets that seem to be most luxurious right now are made of 100% Egyptian cotton. What makes these linens so popular is the fact that they not only are very soft and comfortable, but comparatively speaking, they are also very affordable. There are many soft fabircs that are much more expensive than this type of cotton. Although there are some sheet sets that are in the price range of $1000 and up, the Egyptian cotton modern bedding linens can often be found as low as $50, which is much more attainable for many people.
